Equipment Safety
- Wherever possible 2 people should put out targets.
- Always use the trolley to transport targets and frames.
- Ensure the frame is fully extended before securing the front pin on the line (with a mallet, if necessary).
- Targets should be lifted by two people on to the frame.
- The rope should be attached to both sides of the target with pins and fully extended then secured by a pin to the ground behind the target.
- When putting away a target, two people should lift the target from the frame.
- Targets for use with wooden arrows are marked with 'W' on the back.
- If equipment needs attention, notify others by writing the number of the equipment and the problem on the whiteboard in the social hut. Events to notify include:
- If a pile is lost in a target and cannot be removed, mark the spot with a target pin and note the number.
- stiff or broken target frames.
- overly soft targets.
- Keep the equipment hut tidy to avoid trips.
- No juniors are allowed to set out equipment.
- All equipment eg. the trolley, when not in use should be kept behind the shooting line to avoid risk of damage.
- Read the manual handling leaflet on the notice board.
